Volumetric gas flow meters such as vortex flow meters and turbine flow meters measure the gas volume at actual pipe conditions. If the gas is compressed, the same mass of gas occupies less space. If the gas is hot, the same mass occupies more space. In practice, a plant operator sees a raw volume total on a recorder and compares it with a contract number at standard conditions. The Correction Formula Engineers Use
